Hilary Hoffman, SotoMethod Founder

Hilary Hoffman joined me on the podcast today and her journey is nothing short of inspiring and exciting! Hilary is the Founder of SotoMethod which is a perfectly crafted workout of 60 seconds on and ten seconds off. It’s a mix of cardio and sculpting movements to optimize efficiency and maximize burn for a full-body workout.

SotoMethod is known for its innovative approach and substantial Instagram following. SotoMethod has become a beacon of creativity and success! Hilary’s story is not just about building a brand; it’s about redefining possibilities and challenging norms.

Meet Hilary Hoffman: Finance Prodigy & Founder of SotoMethod

Hilary Hoffman has an incredibly impressive background in finance which laid the foundation for her entrepreneurial venture, SotoMethod. For years, she worked tirelessly in the fast-paced finance world. While she enjoyed it and learned a lot she was finding it hard to workout during her (very) long work days.

If you know Hilary, you know that she values efficiency and her time. She was looking to get the biggest bang for her buck when it came to a workout. No matter if she had 15 minutes, or an hour, she was going to make sure her workout was efficient and well-organized.

A Journey Marked by Resilience and Determination

When it comes to perfection, Hilary agrees that ‘done is better than perfect.’ However, when she was first launching SotoMethod, she wanted to get ample feedback from friends. In exchange for free classes she asked them to give her constructive feedback on what needed to be tweaked or changed. She wasn’t just looking for the compliments but she valued knowing what wasn’t a fit so she could create a perfectly constructed class.

After hosting many classes for friends she decided to do some larger launches with lots of marketing and excitement. However, these didn’t turn out exactly as she had hoped.

Why Free isn’t Always Best

You will hear me say this all of the time in The Friday Society Membership do not give away your services for free! In the instance where you want to have an intro offer, you are just launching, or launching a new product, you may feel compelled to gain traction by giving away the product/service for free.

However, this has been proven time and time again that free is not valued. Even if you offer a low price point intro offer like 2 weeks of unlimited classes for $20 or first class is 50% off, then at least there is an exchange.

When people get things for free, that item or experience is not valued as much. Even if the exchange is small.

Hilary discussed how one of her free events was a total flop. Even with fantastic marketing, only 20 people signed up for one of her free classes and only 4 showing up! She leans into the notion that going forward she doesn’t give anything away for free anymore.

Hilary & SotoMethod’s Next Moves

I’m so excited for Hilary and her upcoming ventures. She opened her new flagship studio in Tribeca, New York and she is also having twins! Hilary generously opened up about her fertility journey and how she found out she was pregnant while having breakfast with Erin Andrews.

Her story shows us that not only can we have the successful business but you can also have the family life as well.

It was so great talking with Hilary and learning more about her journey to founding SotoMethod. This episode is a must listen!
