I was thrilled to have Lindsay Arnold Cusick, dancer and founder of The Movement Club, on the podcast this week! From her time on So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars to building The Movement Club, Lindsay’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.
We dove deep into her career evolution, the challenges she faced, and her best advice for building something meaningful. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, fitness enthusiast, or just love a good success story, this episode is packed with insights that will leave you feeling motivated!
From Dance Floors to National Television
Lindsay started dancing at just four years old, dedicating countless hours to perfecting her craft. But she never expected it to take her beyond high school.
At 18, a last-minute opportunity changed everything. So You Think You Can Dance was holding auditions in her hometown. Lindsay couldn’t resist and decided to take a leap of faith. That decision not only landed her as a finalist on the show, but also led to an invitation to join Dancing with the Stars. Lindsay packed up her Mazda hatchback, drove to LA, and launched into a life-changing career.
Finding Where Motherhood Fits into Fitness and Wellness
For Lindsay, movement wasn’t just a passion—it was her career. Her body was her tool, and keeping it in peak condition was non-negotiable. But when motherhood came into the picture, everything changed. Her old approach to fitness no longer fit the bill. Through pregnancy, Lindsay’s view of wellness transformed. This is what led her to create The Movement Club—a space where fitness is designed to fit your life.
Why Lindsay Arnold Cusick Created The Movement Club: A Fitness Program for Real Life
As Lindsay transitioned from professional dancer to motherhood, it became clear—her old fitness routine no longer worked. She needed an exercise plan that adapted to the ebbs and flows of real life, without chasing perfection.
Instead of searching for the perfect program, she created it. Drawing from years of training, injury recovery, and new certifications, Lindsay built The Movement Club—a fitness platform designed to make movement accessible, effective, and sustainable for any stage of life.
With The Movement Club, Lindsay shows that fitness isn’t about perfection; it’s about showing up, doing what you can (even in just 30 minutes!), and finding joy in movement.
Long-Term Commitment was the Secret to The Movement Club as a Business
If you’ve listened to my podcast before, or are in The Friday Society Membership, you know that I am always saying that you can’t give up after one post or one email. You have to stay committed.
Imagine my excitement when I asked Lindsay for her best advice to new business owners and she agreed with me. She said: “Commit. Don’t give up easily. Give it a fair shot.”
And she lives by that belief. When she launched The Movement Club, she committed to a full 12 months before even asking herself if it was “working.” She knew success wouldn’t come from one post or one idea—it would come from consistency, resilience, and unwavering belief.
And with that mindset? The magic happened.
Lindsay Arnold Cusick’s Heart Behind It All
What I loved most about Lindsay is her passion—it’s contagious. She’s all in when it comes to wellness, not just as a routine, but as a way to feel good and truly support the life you’re living. Her approach is refreshingly simple: movement should be doable, flexible, and fun. No pressure, no perfection—just showing up in a way that works for you.
Our conversation was full of so many gems, and I know you’ll love hearing her perspective as much as I did.
