Hey! I'm Alexa!

I spent the last 11 years in the health & wellness industry, building brands into household names. Now, I bring that knowledge to wellness entrepreneurs through courses, 1:1 coaching, and The Friday Society Podcast.

Alana Kessler is a registered dietician, clinical nutritionist, and expert yoga teacher with 20 years of experience supporting busy people to finally heal their chronic health. I’m thrilled I was able to sit down and speak with her about her career paths that led her to where she is today: the founder of Be Well by AK her own brand where she provides 1:1 coaching,  and 8-week intensive courses and 28-day courses with the goal of creating a foundation for change with the support you need to sustain long-term success.

If you’re lucky enough to meet Alana in person you’ll be struck by her youthful exuberance and appearance. As we talk through on this episode, this wasn’t always the case for Alana. As she struggled with her own battle with anorexia she became interested in understanding the ways in which food plays a larger role than we think in our lives. Alana’s over two decades of navigating a challenging and sometimes very painful relationship to food has helped her learn a lot from her illness. It’s a big part of why she chose to become a registered dietitian, yoga instructor, and meditation teacher, so she could help others overcome their struggles with food.

When it came to deciding between her traditional job in a hospital as a dietician and spending more time with her yoga practice, Alana chose yoga. This path eventually led to her opening her own yoga studio Sangha Yoga Shala which she owned and operated for over eight years with the goal of getting clients “out of their heads and into their bodies.”

Alana’s approach to health and wellness is unlike any other I’ve heard before and I love it!

She approaches her work like an artist, “I receive people and I immediately get this sense – like an art. Every person for me is like an art piece and we collaborate together on building this architective of wellness.” By closing her studio, this allowed her to better tap into her most authentic self (something she coaches her clients on). Be Well by AK is the full realization of this journey back to herself and back to helping others live authentically.

Her work now draws on her knowledge and several years experience working in Eastern and Western nutrition, Functional Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, mindfulness, Interpersonal Psycho-Spiritual Healing and life coaching modalities. By looking at the person and how they show up in their life she can see what modality and therapy would be beneficial for them. Through listening to the client’s vision for health, she’s able to create an optimal plan for that individual.

After this conversation I was inspired to take an introspective look into my own health journey. If you’re feeling the same Alana has generously offered a code. Use code: FRIDAYSOCIETY50 for $50.00 off one of her courses.
