ASK ME ANYTHING

Hey guys!

This was one of my top favorite podcasts to record! Hannah Rose joined me on The Friday Society Podcast to discuss social media strategy and client connections! We discussed why it’s so important to bring your whole self to run your business and what this actually means.

How we Met

The backstory is that Hannah Rose and I share a mutual client who kept suggesting we connect because of the multitude of synergies we have. Shout out to Ashley from Onyx because she was definitely right!

As a marketing consultant, I love to connect with others to learn about their opinions on a great marketing strategy. What I respect about Hannah is that she is a multi-passionate entrepreneur. She excels as a marketing and communications consultant, spin instructor, and podcast host! Hannah is located in Winnipeg Canada, however, she works with clients globally.

When she’s not working as a marketing consultant, she teaches spin and cycling at her local studio. She is consistently waitlisted which is amazing considering her journey to become an instructor. She is known to be a fun and inspiring instructor! Hannah also offers online courses for established and aspiring, spin instructors which I will link at the end. Not to mention, you can sign up for her newsletter to receive her playlists for free which is such a cool incentive!

Hannah Rose’s Journey

Hannah has been in the fitness scene for a long time, and it wasn’t always easy. She fell in love with cycling and tried out for her first cycling job in 2011. However, she was rejected after her audition, but that didn’t stop her. It’s been a rollercoaster when it comes to her teaching journey, but overcame all of the challenges. The ups and downs gave her a fresh perspective on the challenges and perseverance that it can take aspiring teachers.

She once worked in pro sports for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, a CFL team, as their Director of Community Relations. Through that job she learned about fan engagement and what makes a passionate fan.

Through boots on the ground and attending games, she got the full fan experience which helped her choose relatable ideas for community engagement. Being so close to the action provided her genius insight into what fans really want. She has used this expertise as an instructor, and marketing consultant, because she can quickly pinpoint what clients are looking for.

Social Media Strategy

I recently recorded a podcast episode (Episode 90) about the importance of showing your clients what it’s like to work with you. Hannah and I naturally started talking about this same thing and it was great to get her view. Hannah’s take on social media strategy is spot on!

She is very intentional about offering true value to her clients and making sure her courses and content are offering advice that you can’t find on her Instagram or social media. There is nothing worse than paying for an expensive course and quickly realizing that all of the course content is no different than the knowledge they are sharing for free over social media.

Focus Your Message

When it comes to social media strategy Hannah talked about the importance of focusing her message and content around what someone needs to hear, speaking about core beliefs, or a stance on a topic. By being authentic and passionate about many things this brings social media engagement by perking up interest. I loved that we got into this because our January topic in The Friday Society Membership is all about social media strategy!

We agreed that stories are a great place to share day to day and give people a place to learn who you are. It’s all about building your personal brand and giving your community a behind the scenes look of how it is to work with you!

She made a really good point that speaking to the camera is literally giving people an idea about how you speak, the way you sound, and your sense of humor. This does more for your business than you think! I agree with this. If someone signs up for TFSM, and isn’t resonating with me, then I would rather them have known that upfront.

Attract Your Ideal Community

We can often shy away from posting because we are afraid of what people will think but those are not your people! If someone decides you’re not a fit for them then that’s totally ok. Just let them choose to unfollow and you keep attracting the people that resonate with your message.

These are the people who slide into your DM’s to give you praise and the ones who enjoy watching your content. Build your community with those amazing people!

Confidence comes from repetition and showing up on social media literally builds trust in your brand. Find a way to use social media as a tool in your toolbox as free marketing and have fun with it!

Social media is a free platform for people to see your energy and attract the community that is organically drawn to you. I encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone and talk to your community! Overtime is does become more comfortable, I promise!!

Hannah’s tips for magical connections:

  • Fantastic systems of marketing funnels. Have solid systems around intro offers, post class emails or text messages. These touch points are making personal connections and building brand loyalty.
  • Celebrate Milestones! This is a great way to celebrate people and deepen relationships. Make these milestone moments meaningful.
  • Surprise and delight. Write out a few notes to people with encouragement and thank them for their business. This could even be a text or voicenote!

These are all topics we talk about in detail on TFSM so check them out if you need more information!

Stay tuned to the end to hear about her favorite software system she couldn’t run her business without it.
